Advertising on Swapit: A Statement of Policy

The primary purpose of Swapit Trading Network is to facilitate transactions between buyers, sellers, and intermediaries. Here are the standards you need to follow to make sure your product or service is advertised in a way that keeps people safe from scams. For the protection of all buyers and sellers, the following information acts as the Swapit Trading Network Advertising Policy, outlining the requirements for ad placement on Swap-it.co.za and informing which advertising will not be allowed:

Statement on Advertising in General

Enhance the overall standard of your advertisement

Avoid utilizing "screenshots" or stock photos that have been used by other dealers. For each advertisement, you must use original photos.

Use no pictures that show any form of violence, neglect, sex, racism, cruelty, nudity, or prejudice.

Do not run identical adverts. Ads posted by the same user for the same content more than once within a 7-day time frame are considered duplicates. Ads that are replicated across several locations or categories are also considered to be duplicates. This occurs when the same ad is placed more than once, but with a different region or category selected each time.

Advertising that includes the same text but different photos, or vice versa, would likewise be considered to be duplicated. This category also includes advertisements in which the wording is simply jumbled from one ad to another, but still promotes the same product or service.

Both free and paid advertisements are subject to the "no duplication" regulation.

Links to your company's social media accounts or website will not be tolerated.

The title of an ad should include a brief description of the product or service being promoted. Do not put any monetary or contact information in the title of your ad. Avoid using hashtags and other symbols in the headline of your ad (Use them in your ad copy if you like.t).

More specific details regarding the offered product or service should be included in the ad copy. No external links may be pasted into the text box.

Do not refer to or link to advertising on rival websites.

Never resort to name-calling, harassment, discrimination, or the use of vulgar words.

There are restrictions on advertising content, including:

● Promoting a certain political ideology or religious doctrine.

● Sensual or sexual massage, sex devices or services, personal advertisements, or pornographic publications are strictly prohibited.

● DO NOT place any advertising that includes disclaimers or complaints about other ads or sellers. Please use the "report ad" button located at the bottom of each ad if you see any suspicious or harmful content.

● Data sharing with third parties and the selling of "leads" are prohibited by the POPI Act, therefore related advertisements are banned.

● Tobacco and tobacco product advertisements, including those for e-cigarette liquids and pod systems, are strictly forbidden. We do permit marketing of gadgets and their components, though.

● No advertisements for alcoholic beverages or alcohol-related goods are permitted. Vintage wines and other collectibles can be sold as investments and not consumables under the Collectors' Items category. A product cannot be advertised as a collector's item if it is widely available for purchase at retail.

● There will be absolutely NO commercials promoting anything that is in any way unlawful These include substances that are prohibited.

● Advertisements that ask for or provide help hacking or otherwise avoiding paying for a product are prohibited.

● No illegal media such as Music, software, movies, e-books, games, etc. Once media is sold on an external storage device, it is no longer considered original.

● There will be ZERO tolerance for the counterfeiting of designer goods.

● There will be no eBook / Kindle / Gobi, data, or software. Devices may be accepted if the price includes the device and any already downloaded books (no "per book" pricing).

● Absolutely NO Gambling-Related Advertisements OR Links to Gambling-Related Websites OR Services That Promote Gambling-Related Websites OR Apps.

● Donation-based commercials, including those asking for airtime or money, are prohibited. Requests for non-monetary donations (such as those of food, clothing, or furniture) are permitted.

● No automatic weapons, ammunition that explodes or fragments, grenades, explosives, explosive devices, rockets, or weapons that have been modified. Note that common types of ammunition, such as hunting ammo, are acceptable.

● No guns or ammo are to be traded for other products or services.

● There will be NO WANTED advertisements for firearms, ammo, or other weapons.

● No generic "work from home" advertising that involves activities like sending e-mails or entering/capturing data online. There will be no registration fee-only pyramid schemes allowed. This also includes stokvel classifieds.

● Under NO circumstances are uncut diamonds to be promoted or sold. Only shaped/cut diamonds accompanied by a diamond grading certificate or evidence of purchase may be marketed or sold, and this distinction must be made clear in the ad copy.

● NO unprocessed gold or platinum.

● NO advertisements for hazardous substances such as asbestos, mercury, etc.

● Commercials from countries other than South Africa are banned. Users can only browse advertised goods if their contact information is local.

Motoring ads:

Only imported cars are to be advertised if specifically stated that they have all paperwork/import documents.

There will be NO advertisements mentioning a "takeover of installments."

NO "Blacklisted / ITC clients welcome" advertisements for automobiles, real estate, etc (prohibited by the NCA)

Postings for property

Advertisements for homes for sale or rent cannot be biased based on a person's race, religion, sexual orientation, or other protected categories.

There may be NO sales or rentals of RDP properties.

Advertisements for SHAREABLE accommodations may include a preference for male or female guests, but no further restrictions apply.

Please do not post any advertising offering "free lodging" or lodging in return for unknown services

Consumables:

All natural foods and feeds are encouraged, such as maize, hay, beans, lucerne, and other fresh vegetables. Seeds and food for birds are included.

Businesses that offer catering services and/or distribute ready-to-eat meals are permitted.

Pet food for dogs and cats, pellets, or prepared animal meals will be allowed under certain conditions, such as when marketed through pet supply shops or Veterinarian clinics. The clinic's or store's name has to be prominently featured in the advertisement.

All dairy products are subject to conditional regulations, such as milk, cheese, ice cream, etc. - The company's name and physical address must be in the advertisement.

Frozen and fresh meat and eggs are NOT PERMITTED

Consumables:

Promotions of any kind of living thing are banned. This comprises both human and animal sperm and ova for transplantation purposes.

There will be absolutely NO advertisements for or providing surrogate motherhood.

No adoption-related ads

CBD products, as well as other natural medicines, cannot be advertised.

Do not promote any services or products that facilitate abortion or abortion medication

Advertisements for cosmetic procedures or enhancements, such as the augmentation of the breasts, buttocks, or thighs, are prohibited.

NO embalming supplies, fluid, equipment, or services are permitted.

We do not permit advertisements for alternative medical procedures such as clairvoyance, astrology, crystal therapy, traditional healers, herbalists, psychics, sangomas, etc.

Without warning, Swapit may delete any content we deem inappropriate for the Swapit Community.

An advertisement might have been taken down for a number of reasons. Ads that have been reported to us are examined as soon as possible, but in certain cases, they may be temporarily removed while we investigate.

We will take down any advertisements that are reported to us, deemed unsuitable by our staff, or found to be in violation of our General Posting Guidelines or Terms of Service.

You will typically receive an email from us confirming the removal of your ad and, if applicable, giving you the chance to submit it again. Be sure to check your junk folder in order to ensure that Swapit emails reach your inbox, you may want to whitelist the sender if your junk/spam filters are very strict.
